Calma chair

Calma is a series of dining and lounge chairs inspired by mid-century Nordic classics.
The series includes a dining armchair, a sidecar and a lounge chair. Designing the series, we focused on crafted details, smooth volumes and tactility, emphasizing the properties of the solid oak from which che chairs are made.
The initial aim of the project was to design a dining armchair where people could sit for long time during and after dinner, with a particular attention to high-comfort and tactile features of the armrests and backrest. Once Calma dining armchair was made, with the same principles, we designed the side chair and the lounge chair. During the development process, the manufacturer realized several prototypes and we worked both with 3d models and modifying directly some of the prototypes by hand in order to reach the final proportions and details.
