Taktil is a chair designed for care homes, addressing the specific needs of that context with a welcoming and non-medical look.
Working for the specific context of care homes, we put a great focus in designing a chair that can offer a pleasant seating experience. We aimed for a domestic and welcoming feel, not at all recalling medical furniture and distant from conventional care-home chairs. The chair features a wide and high backrest and a solid oak frame characterized by soft and organic volumes that play with tactility. Both versions of the chair, with and without armrests, are stackable, for efficient storage in canteens and common areas.
Under the armrests, we have included a groove that both helps to have a firm grip when standing up and constitutes an interesting tactile element while seated. The groove is also present under the horizontal element behind the backrest, a feature that helps caregivers to slightly lift and push the chair to help users get closer to the table.
