Ripon recliner

Ripon is a lounge chair with reclining function. In designing it we focused on high comfort and on concealing the reclining mechanism for a warmer domestic feel.
In designing Ripon, we worked with sinuous, soft forms that embrace the user. The distinct volumes of the chair culminate in the prominent feature of the oversized headrest, designed to ensure a great support for the head and shoulders. In order to reach the desired level of comfort we have worked closely with the manufacturer, developing with several models and prototypes. The armchair can be accompanied by a footrest, for even greater comfort.
It was the first time we designed a reclining chair, one of the aspects we focused on was to study a reclining mechanism that was as invisible as possible, in order to give the chair a distinctly domestic look. The result, is a mechanism completely concealed within the upholstery and without any visible metal lever. The reclining function is activated by pulling a small fabric loop positioned between the armrest and the seat, a design solution that is both practical and discreet.
