Edit shelf
Designed for Mizetto, 2022
Edit is a both functional and decorative set of shelves, designed with a playful and graphic approach.
The shelf is made of powder coated metal sheet combined with a bard of oak veneered plywood. The combination of mat colors of the metal parts with natural wood elements create a warm and welcoming sensation intended for contemporary work contexts as well as for domestic environments. Edit’s core feature is the groove that runs along the whole shelf, milled into the plywood board. Two different partitions can be inserted into the groove and placed in different positions. The partitions work as bookend and holder for frames and magazines. Edit has a dynamic character and can be personalized by moving the partitions on the basis of different needs. More shelves of different colors and sizes can be mounted on the wall, creating different configurations.
In some of our designs we like to play with the idea of allowing the final user to personalize industrial products. In this way, despite the standardization of industrially produced goods, every piece can be slightly different from each other, thanks to the different ways the users interact with them. We like the idea of involving the end user in making choices related to the product. In the case of Edit, users can move, add and remove elements actively contributing to define the product form and function. In our collaboration with Mizetto we pay particular attention to the topic of personalization of the product. We think that personalization is an extremely relevant topic in offices, where people spend a major part of their daily lives. In these contexts we think it’s very important that workers can adjust and adapt their workspace depending on their needs and personal taste, creating a functional and welcoming environment which can adapt to different individuals and contribute to their well being.
